Privacy Policy

What we collect
- Your name and email address
- Your phone number, if you choose to give it
- Your dog's name, city, state, photograph and license number
- Your shipping address, for physical orders
- Your IP address at registration and at purchase, for fraud prevention
We do not collect payment card details. Those go directly to Stripe.
What is public
Your dog's registered name, city, state, license number, activation and expiration dates, status and photograph are published in a publicly searchable registry. This is the point of the registry, and it is disclosed again at the moment you enter that information.
Your own name, email address, phone number and shipping address are never published.
Marking a dog private removes it from search results and from public view entirely.
Photographs
Photographs are stored in Cloudflare R2. On upload we strip EXIF metadata, which includes GPS coordinates, before the image is stored or displayed. We do this because the registry is public and a photograph taken at home can otherwise carry the location of that home.
We send transactional email about orders you have placed: confirmation, a change-window reminder, shipping notification and renewal reminders. Over a full two-year cycle that is five messages. Promotional email is opt-in and can be turned off at any time in your account preferences. Every message carries an unsubscribe link.
Who else sees your data
- Stripe processes payments: stripe.com/privacy
- SendGrid delivers email: twilio.com/legal/privacy
- Cloudflare hosts the site, database and photographs: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
- Google Analytics records page views and completed purchases: policies.google.com/privacy
A shipping carrier receives the name and address on physical orders, because otherwise the parcel cannot be delivered. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
How long we keep it
Active accounts are retained indefinitely. A deleted account has a 30-day grace period and is then purged. Public dog records and the transaction records behind them are retained after account deletion, for registry integrity and for tax and accounting purposes.
Your rights
- Export. Request a copy of your data by email and we will send it.
- Deletion. Request account deletion by email. This removes your user record; public dog records remain.
- Correction. Edit your dog's details at any time from your account.
- Opt out. Turn off promotional email in your preferences centre.
Security
Passwords are salted and hashed and never stored in readable form. Submitted passwords are checked against a database of known breached passwords using a method that never transmits the password itself. Access to administrative systems is restricted and logged.
Children
This service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, to remember that you have acknowledged the registry notice, and to record page views and completed purchases in Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.
Contact
Privacy questions, export requests and deletion requests all go through the contact page.
